My apologies for not writing lately

Gonna try to keep this up better. I am currently writing a blog on Wolves & Foxes. I believe that in these end times they are very very active. In 2 Cor. 2:11, we see that Satan wants to take advantage of us because of our ignorance. The implication is that God gives us the knowledge and tools to withstand that attack and to gain the victory (2 Cor 2:14). Maybe I'll also include false lions we will see.

Bout time

It has been busy since April, but mostly the last month or so. Went to MN with Nan & Naavah to visit relatives. Drove the truck there and back. 2 I/2 days there 2 days back. They did real well. Nan drove a good distance on the way back allowing me some decent rest time after she got accustomed to driving. She did a good job.

The church got broken into again the night we got back (4th time). The alarm worked and limited them to snatch and run but it still causes damage and they got a couple of things which keeps ya just around the insurance deductible making it not worth placing a claim.

Heading out to Egypt next week for 11 days to minister to the brethren there and to widows & orphans. We will see what the LORD will do. Please pray! It is always exhausting physically, emotionally & spiritually, but is also very rewarding. God is faithful

I won't be updating this blog until I get back from Egypt. Internet time on my phone is $15 per MB & that can add up quite quickly. I'm not sure about using local access there so I will have to wait and see about that. Phone time is $2.00 a minute so that also will be very limited if used at all.

How do I get there from here?

1Jn 4:20 If someone says, "I love God," and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen?

This verse has caused some thought and contemplation on my part over the last few days. As seems to be the case with us humans it is much easier to apply this verse to others than to myself. I can definitely see where you fall short, the hard part is identifying my need and seeing where I fall short. How does this apply to me? (Matt. 7:3-5)

Jesus explained that God’s standard of righteousness goes beyond our outward actions (although they are indicators of inward realities and are not to be ignored). He looks at and judges the inward motivations of our hearts. (1 Sam 16:7, Jer 17:10, Heb 4:13)

So I might say outwardly that I love my brother, but I may harbor malice and ill will towards them in my heart. How do I deal with that?

First of all I have to admit I am in sin, that my heart is not right, that I am not in alignment with God or His word. This is the first step of repentance. The term repentance implies that I will respond in obedience to the direction of the Holy Spirit concerning this issue. This may be the simple act of asking for forgiveness and cleansing before God (1 Jn 1:9), or the more difficult tasks of confessing my sin before others (James 5:16). or the even more difficult task of going to the individual and asking forgiveness from them (Matt 5:23-24).

J. Edwin Orr gives a good principle to govern confession: "If you sin secretly, confess secretly, admitting publicly that you need the victory but keeping details to yourself. If you sin openly confess openly to remove stumbling blocks from those whom you have hindered. If you have sinned spiritually (prayerlessness, lovelessness, and unbelief as well as their offspring, criticism, etc.) then confess to the church that you have been a hindrance."

What if I don’t feel any different? Read 1 Jn 3:18-21. This is saying that the response of obedience to God’s direction is acceptable to Him. My emotions may still condemn me but God doesn’t. He is greater than my emotions. I can have confidence in where I stand before Him because of His word. I guarantee that eventually my heart (emotions) will come into alignment with God and His word strengthening my confidence, trust, and obedience to Him and His Word.

The Bible Innerency conference was great. The speakers were informative and encouraging. If you missed it I think you can purchase copies. I think you can get the messages at www.itdstore.com/store/products_new.php. It is really important in these last days that we are well grounded in the Word of God. Check out the following verses.

Too bad for Cardinals fans. Sympathies and condolences to you. Unfortunately I didn't hear any praise extended to our Lord and Savior Jesus. It's possible I missed it, it's possible the media succeeded in cutting it out, or it just didn't happen. To bad.

The world scene continues to be quite a mess. Finances seem to be the leading story. There are a lot of other issues tied into this issue that have to do with religious freedom, national defense, Israel, Islam, the middle east. abortion, health care, it is just amazing.

I'm listening to old Larry Norman tunes as I write this. There are some good reminders that we are temporary sojourners here and that Jesus is coming!

What an unsettling Bball season. It looks like major changes coming to the Suns. I suppose that it won't be worse than what it is now.

Gideon dinner & stuff

Went to the Pastor Appreciation dinner sponsored by the Gideon's last night. I really do love that organization. The testimonies of what God's Word in the lives of those who recieve Bibles is always way cool! It's also cool to see these older people who have been diligent in pursuing Jesus and ministering for an extended period of time. Pray that God will bring more young men into this organization. They could use it.

Checked out the whitehouse.gov website yesterday. I'm not gonna comment on anything specific there but it is pretty interesting to look at. One can see the direction this country is headed under our new administration and some of the possible impact it will have regarding our freedoms as believers.

I'm looking forward to the Innerancy of the Word conference at Tri-City this weekend. The Word of God is under attack like it has never been before and I think this is a timely conference. Great blessings are expected. See you there.

I pray that God will use the platform of the Super bowl to exalt Himself. Even though I am not much of a Cardinals fan (nominal fair weather fan) I would still like to see them win. I have nothing against the Steelers but they have won a number of times already. I would like it to be a good game whoever wins.

authority despisers, self-willed, evil speakers

Just been studying for this weeks message and have gotten to the following verses.
2 Peter 2:9-10.

These verses should cause us to pause and take notice. We all are in positions where there are God placed authorities over us. They may be in government, church organizations, civil organizations, work, school or home. As believers our first authority is God and then to His revealed person and nature according to the Scripture. One will not contradict the other.

We seem to live in a day and age or society where it is common to "despise authority" of any kind. The attitude of "You don't have the right to tell me what to do!" seems to be found even in preschoolers nowadays. You can often see people who are going to do what they want to do (self-willed) no matter what anyone else says.

Where I think we really see this nature come forth is in everyone feeling so free to disparage others rightly or wrongly.

Unfortunately since this is common practice in the secular community these things are also becoming more common and acceptable within the Christian community.

Thank God for the illumination that His word can and should bring to our lives as believers. Without it we stumble blindly on through this life wreaking havoc of one degree or another where ever we go.

We need to be God directed, Spirit filled, and abiding in the Vine.

Just a short note as we quickly approach the "holiday season". Unless God by His Holy Spirit does a work in mankind this is all this time of year will be; the "holiday season".

Jesus truly is "the reason for the season". If He lives in you and you are not rejoicing ask him to revive you and "restore unto you the joy of your salvation"

Service connection instructions

We haven't gotten the link worked into our web page so that you can watch the services live on line yet but here is how you can do it in the meantime. I do not think this will work at this point with dial up but with a broadband connection it works great. P.C. only at this point. About 10 t0 15 minutes before the service on Sunday morning or Wed. night

1. Open Windows Media Player on your computer
2. push the Ctrl (or control) key holding it down and then push the u key, a small pop-up screen should then appear with an area to type in
3. type this

Election encouragement

1Sa 30:6 Now David was greatly distressed, for the people spoke of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and his daughters. But David strengthened himself in the LORD his God.

The world continues to move forward under the sovereignty of God. A real statement was made yesterday through the choosing of a new president, a president that I believe we are scripturaly obligated to intercede and pray for. I think that people indeed do want a change and that they voted for that change. I do not think that the majority of people viewed this election as a deeply spiritual decision on their part, but I do think that this election was all about spiritual decisions and the spiritual direction that this nation was going to choose to follow. I think the nation in general chose to move away from the God of the Bible to do what is "right in their own eyes". To me this means two things. First that sin will abound more and more within our society with it's resultant consequences and secondly that the return of Jesus is closer and more imminent than ever. Some of our fellow believers like David at Ziklag might be distressed but also like David they need to turn to the Lord for their encouragement. It is only in Jesus and in His promises that we have hope!

so much going on

As always it has been busy. My daughter Nataley, her husband Justen and their son, my grandson Silas were here this weekend. He was "Dedicated" this last Sunday and it was awesome. They are moving here since Justen is getting out of the Corps and will be joining the P.D. soon thereafter. Nataley and Silas have already moved and are establishing a basecamp to reconoiter the area and decide where to set up a more permanent HQ for the family. I'm praying that God will get all my children and grandkids close, it's such a blessing when they are all together.

Getting the church services online is getting closer to reality. We have most of the hardware and software together and I think it is just a matter of putting it all together and turning everything on. I'm thinking that it will be up and running in October. If someone has a broadband connection to the Net they should be able to get audio and video of the services live, if they don't have broadband but a dial-up connection they should at least be able to get the audio of the service. We are gonna start out with Sunday a.m. service and add Wed. and Sun. evenings later. These services will also be available as downloads off the web after we get this all going. Keep this in prayer. This gives us opportunity to reach many more with the message of the gospel and to minister to those who cannot attend here or at a local church where the Word is taught consistently or expositionally.

We are continuing to work with the Apache Junction Baptist Church and our lawyers to put together the legal aspects of merging the two churches into one. Who knew that there was so much to do and to consider (the lawyers did). I will keep you posted as I become aware of the progress in regard to this matter. Right now everything is in the discovery stage, that means we are mostly getting old legal documents together that have impact on the merge such as; titles, deed, corporation papers, by laws and addendums etc. Pray for wisdom for all involved and that God's will be done in this whole mater.

God's Spirit is moving in our midst. It is so great to see Him move in the lives of individuals, in salvations, personal growth (spiritual maturity) and in the establishing of new areas of ministry in peoples lives. God is Awesome.

Quick Leg Update

Went to the Dr. the other day. He asked once again about my mobility and I told him it is good. He wanted to know if I can walk a mile without leg pain and cramping. I told him that I can do two but do not know how far beyond that I can go as I haven't attempted that for some time. He said that the anuerism behind my leg was not considered very large for a guy my size and that we will forgo surgery at this time and just keep an eye on it. That means another set of tests in 6 months. I asked what to watch out for and he told me it will be very evident because there will be pain. Oh joy! Keep trusting and waiting on God. He's coming soon!

Tribulation

John 16:33 These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world."

It has been a very difficult past few days. A good friend, Connie Carbone, has been diagnosed with brain cancer which Dr.s say is unoperable and incurable by human means. As Jesus has said in John 16:33, "In this world" we "will have tribulation". Tribulation can be defined as affliction, anguish, burdens, or trouble. and I think that this fits within these parameters. The other thing this verse says to us is that in Jesus we "may have peace". Not in science, medicine, mans abilities, his knowledge, nor in anything of this creation or world, but in Jesus, in Him alone.

We have moved along over a week since this started. I was going to delete it but decided that the preceding was pertinent. Since that was written and much prayer offered before the throne of God, Connie has also been diagnosed with Valley Fever or with unknown maladies. Initial tests, CAT Scans PET scans MRI scans showed nodules in the brain and in the spine. White counts in the blood and in spinal fluid indicated some sort of extreme problems. Cancer treatments specifically radiation was being considered as the only hope. This was was considered temporary because death was supposedly inevitable, blindness occurring within 14 days and loss of function and death within 6-8weeks. They have rerun all of these tests in the last few days and now say that their initial dignoses was not accurate and possibly faulty because of technician error in relation to the scans. They can discover no physical issues at this time and have sent her home. It is interesting to me that they cannot give God credit for the miraculous but those of us who know Him can. Praise God for His abundant Grace and Mercy!

Dinner & Entertainment with Dennis Zeck
There was a good turnout for this event, we probably had about 40 - 50 people including servers, nursery workers and children in the nursery. We were also blessed with the presence of Captain Lightening sans sidekick. We had good food from Rosatis, good fellowship and good entertainment from Dennis. Once again he pointed out to us our need to know the truth because without this knowledge we are easily deceived. He made it clear that the truth we need is found in the Bible and gave us a very valuable nugget of wisdom, "if it's not in the Bible, it's not in the Bible". I'll let ya ponder that one.

Well it's Sunday morning and time for church back later. Jesus loves ya, He's coming soon! Do you know Him?

Egypt, Calvary Mesa / AJ, Israel & health update

Egypt. God keeps putting it in front of me. I have committed to going in 2009 if that is what God wants and if my Dr's. say go for it. I don't foresee them objecting other than normal health reasons that one encounters in Egypt. Pastor Doug Warwick from Calvary Ahwatukee is pursuing starting an orphanage there and I told him that when he goes I will accompany him. I told the people at Sunday night service of C.C.A.s plans and of mine. I would like at least two people from our church to come on this trip with me as reps of Calvary Chapel A.J.. I don't know if there will be any restrictions on who can go or the number of people we can bring, so pray and seek the Lord if He puts this on your heart.

Calvary Chapel East Mesa /A.J.. The Apache Junction Baptist Church has voted to merge with us. It is basically a done deal. Just some legal stuff to do. We will remain a Calvary Chapel affiliate. You may have seen here and there we are beginning to phase in a new name. We want to retain some of the flavor of those who have been diligent in serving the Lord since the founding of this church and we also want to reflect what the Lord has done through Calvary. Therefore you will begin to see the name Apache Junction Bible Chapel, or just A.J. Bible Chapel used more often until we transition out both of the old names. The Dove logo will remain that will not change. Business (the Lord's business) as usual. I will attempt to keep you informed as things develop.

Israel, We would like to put together an Israel Tour slated for 2010. No set plans or date just a year. If the Lord tarries, the economy doesn't collapse or in other words if it's His will we will go. Pray for His direction in this endeavor.

Health. Went and had a cat scan today. They want to see how the vascular system is doing from the abdomen on down. For those of you who don't know, my body likes to produce blockages and aneurysms. They recently found an aneurysm behind my left knee that needs surgery. These do not usually pop causing a person to bleed out but collapse cutting off blood flow to the lower extremity thus requiring amputation. I am fond of my lower leg and would rather take it to heaven with me rather than meet it there. The technician was pc and told me the Dr. would tell me the results. So at this point I am waiting on the Dr.s office to contact me with an office appointment or to schedule a date for surgery. I have been told so far that it is a pretty cut and dry proceedure (no pun intended), and that I will be walking almost immediately. Full recovery is usually about 4 - 6 weeks, that means you don't even feel any effects from it anymore. They said that I would not even have to be out of the pulpit, but we will see depending on the date they do it.

Encouragement in Attack

Haven't been here for a little while. It has been busy and I have also become interested in journaling (keeping a diary of sorts). It offers a little more emotional release and keeps somewhat a record of events that you can refer to later to refresh your memory if need be.

I'm trying to figure out how or if I can save this as a sort of a draft to work on later without having to publish this to the web now.

If unable to do so here is a scripture that should encourage the "servants of the Lord." Notice where the source of "righteousness" comes from and who it is who will condemn.

Isa 54:17 No weapon formed against you shall prosper, And every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, And their righteousness is from Me," Says the LORD.

Jud 1:24 - 25, Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, And to present you faultless Before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy, To God our Savior, Who alone is wise, Be glory and majesty, Dominion and power, Both now and forever. Amen.

The Laurie Family

How utterly devastating to lose a husband, daddy, brother, son, uncle, nephew, and friend. My heart and prayers go out to those in pain at this time. Thank God that He is the God of all comfort and that we indeed have a living hope. Pray for the Laurie family during their time of grieving.

2Pe 1:2 Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, 3 as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, 4 by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

These were the verses I left you with. The point of these verses for me is that everything that I as a person needs in relation to living my life morally, ethically and of course spiritually can be found through the direction of God the Father,and Jesus the Son. Jesus also tells us of the part that the Holy Spirit plays in accomplishing this in John 4:26, telling us that the Holy Spirit the Comforter who would indwell all believers "He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you. "

Another Bible verse that has once again spoken loudly to my heart is Hebrews 1:1-2, it reads, "God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets,2 has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds;"

This reaffirms to me the importance the supremacy of Jesus and my continuing need to get closer to Him. It also speaks to me of my responsibility to hear what He has to say. To me this is much more than just the simple intellectual or aural recognition of the words but the internal spiritual response. Allowing His word to impact my heart and then allowing the Holy Spirit to translate it into the daily attitudes and actions of my life.

U can't teach an old dog new tricks?

On a recent "Mythbusters" they addressed this issue and and concluded that this indeed was myth and it was "busted" . With that in mind here we go with my first attempt at blogging. I am not particularly good at doing much of anything nor do I feel that on a personal level that I have much to offer so if you choose to access this blog and read it don't expect much from me. What I do have to offer though is a number of years pursuing a relationship with Jesus. Anything of real worth in my life has come in and through this relationship. If you get anything at all that is of any value from reading this blog it will be because of Jesus. The following is what I have found to be true ;
